The capacity to evaluate and synthesise data from a large body of knowledge about communication disorders and science.
Combining evidence-based practise and a mindset of inquiry and decision-making to solve problems. Clinical proficiency in patients with a variety of communication disorders prevention, screening, evaluation, diagnosis, and therapy
The capacity for professional and successful communication abilities for self-evaluation that result in proactive actions to enhance clinical competencies and broaden one's knowledge base.
Ethical and responsible behaviour in the workplace abilities to work in multidisciplinary environments.
Admission Requirements
Elaborated below are the MS-SLP program requirements to get into University of Pittsburgh Every applicant must submit an application via CSDCAS. No application materials should be delivered directly to the department or school. Admission applications sent directly to the school will not be examined. Academic
● A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution is required.
● A minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) is necessary. A GPA of 3.5 or better is, nevertheless, strongly advised.
● Applicants for the bachelor degree with a CSD (or comparable) major will meet all prerequisite curriculum requirements. A grade of less than C- in a CSD major course is unacceptable and must be repeated.
● Applicants without a CSD (or comparable major) should have completed at least one 3-credit course in each of the following subject areas:
> Anatomy of Hearing
> Anatomy of Speech .
> Language Development
> Speech Science
> Hearing Science
> Transcription Phonetics ASHA Requirements
You must fulfil the requirements set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Council for Clinical Certification in order to be qualified for clinical certification by the organisation. Before beginning the graduate programme, this includes passing at least one three-credit course in each of the following categories:
● Biological Sciences (Human Biology, Anatomy & Physiology)
● Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry)
● Behavioral Sciences (Sociology, Psychology)
● Statistics (not research design) GREs are no longer required for this degree program. Send three or more recommendation letters, at the very least.
Two of the recommendations must be from professors in your major who taught at the collegiate level. Only electronic letters of recommendation will be accepted by CSDCAS. Submit certified transcripts from all colleges and universities attended to CSDCAS. Non-native English speakers must provide TOEFL or IELTS scores from the last 12 months (of the date of the application).
The needed TOEFL internet-based test (IBT) score is 100. The minimum approved IELTS overall band score is 7.0.
